Changing jobs under different SOC Code after i485 pending for more than 180 days
Employer 1:
PERM: SOC/O*NET (OES) code: 15-1132 | Section H (Alternate): Software Engineer or IT Professional | Occupation Title: Software Developers, Applications
I-140 (EB3): 15-1132 | Part 6 Job title: Software Engineer - Quality - Approved

Employer 2 (Joined as a Architect and later converted to project manager before new GC filing):
PERM: SOC/O*NET (OES) code: 15-1199 | Section H Job title: PD Project Manager | Occupation Title: IT Project Managers
I-140 (EB3 and later EB2): Part 6 Job title: PD Project Manager - Both Approved in 2022
Filed I-485 in 2020, Approved EB2/EB3 2022, Filed I-485J for EB2 in 2022

Now I am planning to switch to Employer 3 - who would initially absorb me as "Software Architect" (15-1299) via H1B TRANSFER, same SOC CODE as IT Project Manager.
Can i file I485J immediately or should I change my role to project manager when time or chance permits and then file I485J? I am not sure what details go into a 485J.
I am trying to skip PERM and I-140 from scratch. Will there be RFE ?

it is mandated that you keep the same SOC code if you want to skip PERM and I140.
485J is a reactive document, not a proactive. If an RFE comes, you can respond with a 485J. All details (process, mailing address and form) are available on USCIS web site.
