For our family case, derivative applicant were updated 1 hrs after principal. I guess if your principal doesn’t get updated within 1 day, it will be a problem. because by default, derivate beneficialary can only be approved after principal.

@Jim HSU that's why I asked. derivative got status changed yesterday evening, so hopefully I get something today.
