Documents required for an expedite request
Hi guys, My working visa will expire in September and I was curious about what I would need to ask for an expedite request. I’m thinking it will be primarily a financial loss issue. Do any of you what paperwork/documents I would need to provide to uscis? Thanks!

Hey, as far as I understand they will ask you for proofing evidence. you can ask your HR to provide you a letter that you will loose your job if you are not able to proof your working visa. do you want to file an i129 or i765? Do you mind letting us know how it goes?

Hey, yes I filed for a I-765. Just a letter would be sufficient enough? I will definitely let you guys know.

it depends on what you’re applying for. if , for example, it’s a marriage-based I-485 and your spouse is sponsoring you, they may say that you applied knowing this was going to happen and the spouse proved they had enough to support you. but it’s always worth trying (a few times!) because I think it depends on the officer you talk to how much they follow rules. hopefully it’ll get processed before September though! have you had your biometrics/ fingerprints applied already?

Thanks Claire! no I haven’t gotten any updates since my RFIE (for taxes) like two weeks ago. so how does it work? you request an expedite and then it’s up to you to provide any proofs you have?

it’s hard to expedite if you haven’t already had your fingerprints taken because that’s done in a local office and the expedite is done through the benefits centre but you can always try. you can try before but you might be told to wait. then you can call uscis or chat through Emma, uscis online chat box, and request to expedite stating the category (unexpected financial hardship) and the reasons. I think they will then get in touch requesting evidence.

as far as I know fingerprints are not needed for EAD and AP. if it’s just a an extension of a visa I also do not think that you need one because they should have that already in their system. My friend got his EAD/combo card three weeks ago but has its appointment for biometrics mid of June. not sure if he was just lucky tho

Yes not sure how they process the application... it seems really chaotic and disorganized/random... I’ve been living in the country for 6 years, met my wife 3 years ago and got married this year. In between, I had multiple visas and got my fingerprints taken so many times... not sure if they will reuse it tho.

they’ll probably reuse if you’ve had them taken at a uscis office.

I think it’s best to call them. my visa also expires in September and I don’t think that my ead will come until then I will start requesting it next month after consulting with my attorneys

sounds like a plan! let me know how it goes. I was thinking about looking into it beginning of July

yeah you have to give them enough time the last time I checked with my attorneys after filing they told me to wait at least 60 days before doing anything. I found this here btw: https://puyanglaw.com/2021/06/questions-and-answers-regarding-uscis-customer-service-contact-center/ Q14. Can a person request to have a biometrics appointment earlier than their already scheduled appointment? A14. Biometric services appointments are expedited on a case-by-case basis. Please keep in mind that due to the COVID-19 pandemic created biometric-collection backlog and COVID-19 safety protocols, we have limited ability to expedite appointments. To request an expedited appointment, applicants should call the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 (TTY 800-767-1833).
