I’m currently working on an EAD I got from OPT. {CO3B} but it will expire march 8th 2022. I’m currently going through the adjustment of status process I have I-765 that’s being actively reviewed {pending} on my form I-797c notice of action says I am eligible for extension up to 180 days past the expiration date on my card. I am confused and want to clarity if I am still eligible for that automatically extend or that’s extend is only for EAD you got for I-485 process ??

the 180 days extension is only if you have a case received letter for your renewal of your ead before the expiration date

The automatic extension is not applicable to STEM-OPT/OPT EAD because the category differs from that of AOS.

yes I just did so more research etc… I believe i am good I do get extension

yes but I using the extension basic on eligibility category (C09 )

I think auto extension only applies on the same catagory? if you currently using C03B and applying for C09, how can you get the auto extension..?

That's right EL. it's applicable for only same category just as stated in the USCIS info via the link I shared.

@James black, I am in the same situation as you and have been put on unpaid leave because my initial work authorization has expired. Please let me know if you found a way to submit the automatic extension. If it was not possible, please provide any information that could help speed this process up for me. I am now at risk of termination if I do not get this sorted ASAP. I have reached out to local government to see if they can expedite my I-765. If you had to wait for your I-765, what was your processing time and what city are you in?

@tyson dyer , I reached out to my congressman office after I tried to expedite myself which failed. I got email back from that office within two days asking me to send evidence ect…. then two day after that my ead card was produced!! 🎊🎊🎊

@Tyson Dyer, Hi Tyson, local government won't be able to help on immigration issues. Depending on the category of your I-765, you may or may not qualify for auto extension. I suggest you contact USCIS and ask them to expedite your renewal as you already been put on unpaid leave and at risk of termination.
