G-56 I485 interview
Hi everyone,
I just received G56 Call in notice for i485 interview. we had our marriage base interview for I-130 3 years ago and it was approved the same day. Now I got this notice and I’m so freaking out. It says that I should come by myself or bring an attorney.
The letter states:
Reason: I485 interview
Bring with you: Government Issued ID
a little bit background story:
- I had an asylum case and the case was denied.
- got married to US citizen and had I-130 interview
now I got this notice and I don’t know if anyone was in the same situation?

@a z you will be asked questions from i485 only .nothing to be worried about.take your wife with you .

@j jj @a z I have literally same thing going minus the interview since i just sent my I-485 to USCIS 9 days ago.
But i am not surprised interviews are back because of the new administration.

I hope it goes well. I waited for this interview for 3.5 years. I filed for ombudsman 4 month ago and my lawyer received a phone call letting her know that I will have an interview in a week. I got my letter few days later. hopefully everything goes well.

@a z Wow! That is crazy! It will be ok i do understand the fear tho, i am freaking out too!😂 We filled I-130 in November 2018 and got interview in may 2021(although my hubs was a resident at the time)

I don’t have any letters yet. I filled for GC on march 5th. I am hoping not to have it at all, so i can get the GC as soon as possible

Same thing for me, I just out from my interview. I have a pending asylum and the officer asked me a lot of question about my asylum instead of my i485

@Tamara D , She was very friendly and it was not stressful or tense. I said I was detained in my i485 and she asked me why did you detained? why? for how long did they keep you? in which city and country also if I have charged for anything or not. that was the only questions related to my asylum and she printed out my statement and asked me to sign in. that was it

I had my interview today. I went with my husband and daughter. the office was nice and started asking questions about how we met and where. all about our relationship history. he didn’t ask anything about asylum case. later he asked me to sign and gave us the paperwork that the interview was completed. after couple of hours my status changed to card is being produced 😭😭😭

Well i am next now😄I was detained too in 2017 in Miami. Although my asylum was denied and closed and i got the order for deportation. So my lawyer filed for prosecutorial discretion with ICE and it was approved so i was finally cleared to go ahead and adjust my status.
I definitely don’t have idea are they going to ask asylum questions or marriage questions even tho our I-130 was approved🤷🏽♀️
