I-485 Interview Waived, what now?
I decided to “Ask Emma” for an update on my I-485 and the agent told me that my interview was waived in July and my case arrived at my local field office in November. I haven’t been notified by mail or online that this happened.
I’ve seen many people have their interviews waived and they either get the Green Card quick or they’re left waiting for months. I’m kinda confused because I asked for an update over a month ago and the agent just said it was processing normal, and now it says this? Idk how it works on their end, but weird.
Also, I had my biometrics July 8th but it says the interview was waived July 5th. Is that even a thing? I’m so dubious about this cause it seems too good to be true. And I’ve seen people ask for updates and get different results from different agents, so 🤷♀️
For anyone who had their interview waived, how long did it take for you be updated by mail or online, and/or receive your green card?

there's no way they will waive your interview without biometrics done so much crap happening
R LDec 17, 2022
it doesn’t mean your interview got completely waived. it means NBC recommended the interview to be waived, but the final decision is made by the FO. The NBC doesn’t adjudicate AOS for family based so they can’t approve on their own. Now, your case will go to your FO, and if they decide to waive it too, then it will be waived for sure.

can you adjust if you worked or went to school in the past? would this cause any issue
R LDec 17, 2022
and if you check the USCIS POLICY MANUAL, you can read on VOLUME 7, CHAPTER 6, Letter E, it says right there that the Officer must ensure all security checks are completed. Your interview being waived before the biometrics goes against their own policy, so like I said, the NBC reviewed your documents, said everything looks ok and recommended the interview to be waived. whenever your case is finally adjudicated, the officer will decide whether to grant that waiver or schedule you for an interview.

by the way, you will never be told your case moved to the local FO. you only gets notifications when it moves in between services centers.

oh and i was told my interview was waived on July 5th too, along with many people according to posts in REDDIT/USCIS (there is actually a post about that date being Waive Date). My case got approved on November 20th. I did my biometrics on June 9th
Chloe VDec 17, 2022
@tas smith I know right, that’s what makes it suspicious to me. If it was dated after my biometrics it seems more believable
Chloe VDec 17, 2022
@R L I wish they communicated better, I just want an update online that reflects what the officer said. Well the officer told me it moved offices, and I’ve read a lot of people being told the same. Why would they say that and give me an exact date if it wasn’t true? I feel like that’s definitely something I could get them in trouble for. Well since your case was waived the same as me, I’m hoping I hear something soon.

when I made an inquiry about my case a tier 2 told me my interview been waived that was maybe 3 months ago I made other one my field reply back saying they anticipate a decision are notice in 60 days it's been a month now nothing yet my case never updated from fingerprint

the thing is when you chat or call to a tier 1 agent - is not a real uscis agent. it is just some third party call center. kind of a customer service. so they don’t really know what is going on. they have very limited access. thats why when you call they just throw random responses 😂

How to speak to a tier 2?
tas smithDec 17, 2022
@MI you have to put in a case inquiry either they call you back are they send you a email in my case they did both when they called me it took over a month when they emailed me it took 9 days

I spoke to an agent through Emma and it said my interview was waived too but I don’t believe it I just think they’re telling us that so we leave them alone
Chloe VDec 17, 2022
@johnny funny you say that! I called yesterday and the lady from Tier 1 literally said to me when I asked if she can check my case status “I don’t know how to do that” I was like…?? is Tier 2 more reliable?
Chloe VDec 17, 2022
@rosh unfortunately I feel the same. sucks
Chloe VDec 17, 2022
@tas how do you put in a case inquiry?
Rosh faith🤞🏼Dec 17, 2022
then I spoke to another person via Emma and they told me my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview but it’s still at the NBC
tas smithDec 17, 2022
Chloe if you go to your account online at the bottom of the page you should see were it say submit case inquiry click on it and put in all your information
R LDec 17, 2022
I do hope you hear something too Chloe, I just wanted you to understand how AOS worked. most of the cases right now are indeed waived, so I’m sure yours will be too. it’s really really weird for interviews to be scheduled right now. and yes, Emma agents are just terrible. there are a lot of screenshots on Reddit on how stupid they can be…
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@rosh really? that’s so weird, another reason why I kind of don’t trust what’s said through emma. most the time people have different results from different agents. I don’t understand how they can get away with giving out false information.
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@not giving up so what’s your last case update? mine are still actively reviewed, I wish it would at least change to something because I would trust it lol
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@tas smith I think I’ve tried doing that before and for some reason it says the form type doesn’t match the receipt number or something. but I’ve triple checked I’m putting in all the correct information and it still doesn’t work. I’ll try again soon though, thank you!
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@R L thank you! it’s such a different experience for everyone, and there’s no method to their madness. I might try and ask Emma again and see what a different agent says. or I’ll try and call to get through to tier 2. I saw someone say that giving them your alien number might be better, do you think so?
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@R L hey, I asked an agent through emma about my case again, without mentioning it being waived to see what they’d say, and she said it is indeed at my local field office. this might be dumb lol, but do you happen to know if the processing time for the field office is based on when they received my case or is it from when I submitted my application?
Rosh faith🤞🏼Dec 19, 2022
@chloe v I think it’s from when you submitted the application, how did you talk to them? through Emma or did you call?
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@rosh I hope so 🤞I just did it through emma
Rosh faith🤞🏼Dec 19, 2022
ok I’m gonna try to talk to someone else again, they probably tired of me lol
Bacioz IIDec 19, 2022
@chloe you asked informations about your 485?
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@rosh hahah I think they’re tired of me too. hopefully you hear the same information as you did from the first agent
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@M II yes I did 🙂
Bacioz IIDec 19, 2022
Did you get your EAD? Me after 9 months not yet
Chloe VDec 19, 2022
@M II nope I haven’t yet, only been 6 months for me. Sucks though because I keep seeing people who have had their biometrics in the last couple months and the same day their EAD card is produced. I hope you get yours soon
