no more combo card. but still you will get your advance parole.
This month has brought unexpected news for green card applicants. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently announced that it will be discontinuing its policy of issuing employment authorization documents (EADs) and advance parole travel authorization as a joint “combo” card. Up until recently, green card applicants could send Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization, and Form I-131 Application for Travel Document, along with their I-485 green card applications to apply for a “combo” work/travel authorization card. This “combo” card enabled green card applicants to work and travel while their applications were in process with USCIS. The agency has now confirmed that it will be separating the issuance of the employment authorization document (EAD card) and advance parole (AP) document and will no longer be issuing these “combo cards.” USCIS has said that this new policy change has been implemented to reduce EAD processing times. Effective immediately, the agency will now be issuing EAD and AP documents separately. Applicants with EAD cards that do not have the notation “Serves as I-512 Advance Parole” will only be able to use their EAD card for employment purposes, and not for travel. A separate Advance Parole document must be issued by USCIS in order for the applicant to engage in international travel. Traveling without a valid Advance Parole document will result in the abandonment of the applicant’s green card.

I spoke to Emma and the agent said ours was a combo card - I was trying to figure where my case was

how does this new decision make the EAD card processing time reduced?
E
E BMar 17, 2022
I don’t see how this will help reduce processing time. If anything, it’ll do just the opposite - increase processing times by wasting resources on two separate cards. USCIS just continually messes with people 😭😭

total sort of I should say? is it not the same agency?? so if I apply for both why not just issue when u see my application. I don’t see much sense to it but yea it’s a privilege they say not my right or any of us.

is good because you don’t have to wait until you get approved for EAD. so you will get your i512. or parole. before you work permit.
a
antonio MartínezMar 17, 2022
you will get your i512. before. . in one page. so is not going to be card anymore is gonna be. paper page. and your work permit. is not gonna said. serves as 512 advance parole anymore in the bottom.

M
My CaseMar 17, 2022
now it’s the AP that will take forever to process since they consider EAD more important 🙄

@antonio Martinez how can you say this is good and normal???? many of us have lives outside of work and haven’t seen our families in years. many of us need the AP to travel for work. I don’t know how you can justify waiting for 14 months for an AP that you filed with your ead and when the card comes you only have half of the piece?? it’s unacceptable to keep people hostage in the country for a year and a half.

antonio MartínezMar 19, 2022
noooooo the advance parole will be quickly. approved. before the work permit. they used to. give you both but now change. because the work permit taking forever. so that’s why they will work in you AP first.

@antonio Martinez but that is not the case! there are people that have been waiting for more than a year that finally maybe get thir ead and it comes without AP!

My CaseMar 19, 2022
right now all AP’s are pushed to the back, first priority is EAD. I got an combo card at the end of January, my son got just an EAD in February shortly after this rule got active
ark IlaMar 19, 2022
that's a huge problem. A lot of people have to be able to travel internationally to keep running their business. Some jobs are based on traveling. that's frustrating. not to mention family issues this will cause.

I got the EAD card (not combo) and I-131 Approval in January. Am I supposed to receive another document for AP travel? The form I-797 for I-131 approval says the travel document will be mailed separately but I have not received a "travel document" after months. Can I travel with the I-797 showing I-131 approval?
a
antonio MartínezJul 8, 2022
yes you can
a
antonio MartínezJul 8, 2022
I don’t show my permission with parole. they just ask me for a approval page. that all. in custom should but you just need the approval notice
E
Emre OrtakciJul 8, 2022
did you get a I-512L? I am confused because I-131 approval says that the advanced parole document will be mailed to me separately, though they never sent it.
