I think you consider yourself lucky if you get an appointment before 1.5 years in cd Juarez. remember is taking about 24 months to do an adjustment of status inside the USA. mexico is working slowly slowly slowly and slowly o did a say slowly.

lupe what is your 601a date ? maybe is little bit risky and what category are you in nvc.

karla your priority date not count. if you don’t send all the documents and they accept everything and they send you an email that says you are documented qualified. from that moment you are on line for an appointment not before.

we submitted ours and we’re DQ in February 2022. haven’t heard anything, but we are still waiting for an approval for i601a! (Dec 2020!) without an approval we can’t go to Juarez

@br Rubios. we sent it November 2021. and I’m a USC petitioning my husband. we also joined the lawsuit so hopefully we’ll have a resolution to our case in a few months.

Mina laz I think you should be good. remember USCIS put hold on nvc. some time nvc didn’t respect that but i think you should be ok.

that is insanely ridiculous to make people suffer and wait even more after getting the i601a approval after if takes so long to get approved!

Sorry guys just saw all the comments. This app sucks sometimes. I sure hope it doesn’t take 1.5 years - THAT is brutal! My lawyer said a few months. If you look at the NVC website it states the date they’re currently working on. My priority date on that email says “31-May-16”. I will keep everyone posted on what my lawyer says and/or if and when I get an appt scheduled.

@Karla: my wife’s friend who works at the immigration law firm says she is seeing cases being scheduled for interview faster this year. She estimates 6-12 months. You’re about to hit 6 months. Please update us on here when you get scheduled. That’ll give us all an idea on what to expect. Good luck!

@br rubios- no my I601A receipt date is 10/2020 since they requested so many documents from my birth country and I don't live there (obviously) lol it took me a while to obtain police records etc. my fingerprints got updated 3/2021

Nothing since February 3rd, 2023 when I was told I’m on queue for a consular interview. I was told 6-12 months so we shall see.

leo this is crazy, I see a lot of people who don't need I601A are either getting medical exam request or their actual card in the mail

how long did it take for your I-601 waiver take before it was approved

@pack man man exactly 34ish-almost 35 months. I was approved December 2022 after an RFE and my date was January 2020. I’m still waiting for a consular interview.

@ Leo, my I-130 case was approved and the case went all the way to NVC and the embassy but the embassy refused my case and told us to go get a waiver

Jumping in to say I’m still waiting for an interview, it’s been 7 months since been documentarily complete at the NVC. Every 60 days the NVC sends me an email stating I’m still in line for the next available appt.

Hello everyone, here to give y’all an update. Instead of the email I’ve been receiving every 60 days from the NVC, I received an email stating that the US embassy/Consulate had “approved your request to process your immigrant visa case expeditiously. We are forwarding your case file to the embassy or consulate for their action.” It did mention it would take “several weeks” for the Consulate Section to schedule an interview, but they will as soon as they receive the case. Anyone have any idea how long I should expect an appt? Let me add I did not request anything to get expedited.

No, she did not request the expedite. My guess some cases get expedited. Everything has to be in English. If it’s not, it must be translated.

how do I translate it? or where?

Pedrito if I’m not mistaken, you can contact your lawyer and ask if they can translate or they can direct you to someone. I believe the translated file has to be notarized, if anyone knows the right answer please correct me.

I been trying to call my lawyer but she doesn’t answer and I already give her a new police records because the last one got expired

Hey Leo, thanks for all the updates on your timing. My 601A was approved in Oct '23 (after 3y 7mo of waiting... 43 months!) and I got all my NVC docs submitted last week, Jan 25. Waiting on their response to find out if they'll qualify me. It's interesting to hear that they expedited you without you requesting it, would love to hear how that turns out. My "priority date" says April 2019 -- I have no sense on whether that means my priority is coming up yet or not.

@Shannon G: Once you get documentarily qualified is when you start to wait for an NVC interview. The expedite of the case has done nothing so far. I’m at 9 months waiting since DQ and no NVC appt yet. Good luck to ya!

That’s such great news! That’s such a good feeling. Depending on your embassy it might be faster than my wait time. I have to go to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Their wait times seem to be around 1-1.5 years. Good luck!

@Shannon G it went great, only thing they asked me to get a new Mexican passport cause mine was a little “wrinkled.” I don’t see how that was a big deal but I’ve gotten a new one on the way and after that, I’m mailing it to them to get stamped. For now, I’m enjoying my time in Mexico after 19 years.

@Shannon G Thank you! It won’t feel real until I have my passport back and I’m on the plane back home (Dallas, TX). Yes, you will get your interview in no time. Time flies, but one thing I do advice is prepare financially in case something like what I am going through happens. I have been in Mexico for 25 days. Financially I am okay cause I saved enough but if someone isn’t prepare for a curveball staying out longer can really have a negative effect. I was told to wait 2-3 weeks after mailing the new passport to hear back and it’s barely been a week. 2 more weeks to go. Yay! Needless to say I am thankful, but I am running out of things that do in Mexico without spending too much, y’know? Any questions please feel free to ask me. I will not be deleting this app/acct so I can help anyone in the future with questions cause I know what it feels like.

Update: VISA issued April 26th, 2024, received email package was en route to DHL May 2nd 2024, picked up May 3rd and flew back home, Dallas, the same day. If anyone has any questions about anything, I will be happy to help based on my experience. @pedrito Gg the interviewing officer did not like the way my passport was wrinkled (it can diminish its value and can be portrayed as fake apparently, I learned this after the fact) and she asked me to get a new one and was given a 221(g) form, which is technically a refusal but asked to submit the new passport. I had to find a way to get a new passport in Mexico, which took about a week and then mailed it back to them. After that I waited and waited and waited, it was horrible until I saw the visa was issued. After a week of being issued I received the stamped passport and envelope. Flew back the same day.

@pedrito Gg good luck man, it’ll be good. It’s normal to be nervous, but you got this. Just make sure your passport isn’t wrinkled and you have all the documents they ask for; do not forget your wife’s birth certificate. I saw a guy get the same form as me cause he didn’t have his wife’s birth certificate - he had the vital record cert but the officer wanted the actual birth certificate.
