Public Assistance
My greencard was approved and I plan on going to college soon. The issue is finance and I have a young child.
Will I as a greencard holder be able to apply for food stamps and cash Assistance to help me with transportation to n from school until I graduate? Plus I'll need daycare assistance for my baby.

our interviewing officer gave us a paper that states if he gets public assistance then the financial sponsor is responsible for paying it back so I’m not sure if that’s true or not

I don’t know which state you live in, but if you’re a single mother, you can contact or visit the welfare office in your area and they will tell you the way forward. But I think there’s something to benefit from the state if you check it out.
