Request for initial evidence- i485
Hi family, my vawa got approved on 15th February 2024 after which my i485 was transferred to another office. Today I got an update that says “RFE or NOI by uscis). In the body of the update, it says “On April 3, 2024, we sent a request for initial evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number XXXXXXXXX. The request for evidence explains what we need from you. We will not take action on your case until we receive the evidence or the deadline to submit it expires. Please follow the instructions in the request for evidence….. can this be medical? And is there a difference between RFIE and RFE?

did you get any notice or status update online when they transferred your I-485 to another office? and when did your I-485 transferred after Vawa approval?

@param singh I hope so, your approval is on the way. @D.E.B g.z I filed 360 & 485 February 2021, Vawa got approved 15th February 2024, March 8: Case transferred to another office
March 9: Case was transferred and a New office has jurisdiction
April 3: RFE or Notice of intent(NOI) by USCIS

@idk 🙂 🥱 I pray so, @March 2023 hopefully it is medical because that’s the only thing I’m expecting from them now. Vawa approved on 15th February 2024, March 8: Case transferred to another office

@F A @Mrkvica M. @idk 🙂 🥱 once NBC receives the medical, are they going to give the green card or they are going to send the whole file to field office to process the green card? and how many days again for the next case update?

mine was also a RFIE and it was for medical …(Vawa approved July 18 last year, case was transferred on Aug 4 to NBC ,got RFIE aug 23, they received on Sept 26…)

@bobby garlic nobody knows. That's up to them to decide. Some people have their interview vaiwed and some people's file gets transfered to field office and then they have interview

@F A you will need to have two visits to civil surgeon and print out Form I-693. Also, make sure to have updsted tetanus shot and COVID shot

@bobby garlic I have no idea how it works @Niki D any update since they received your rfie? @Mrkvica M. 2 visits? do you mean the day I go for the medicals and when I go pick up the results? Can they see my former test result? I did one in 2016 when ex spouse petitioned for me. I can’t remember if my tetanus is up to date but I got 2 doses of Pfizer Covid shot.

@F A you go to civil surgeon, do the blood work,they check what shots you are missing,and the second visit you have to have all the shots and then civil surgeon signs paperwork and seals the envelope. I am not sure if they can see former results

nothing since they received my medical….
on March 14 I made a case inquiry (out of normal processing time)
March 22 my inquiry was assigned to an officer for response
March 28 they sent me a response …I guess by regular mail…. didn’t get it yet….

July 18 /23 was the Vawa approval and Aug 23 when they sent me the RFIE for medical

@bobby garlic I think the field local office decided and all cases are on NBC then they get transferred how many days only god knows depend you yor luck that your case move on to local field first we don’t know how NBC works but when in local field is depend how busy it is, my lawyer talk me in Denver is from 6 to 8 months but nothing is guaranteed

I have a very similar timeline. Applied Feb 2021, and got VAWA approved recently and got an update that they’ve sent out RFE letter for my i485. Did yours turn out to be for medical like you predicted?
