the first two numbers after SRC indicate the year the application has been received. so SRC22 means something received this year, SRC21 last year and so on

@mihai ohhhh now makes sense!!! thank you! what about the other numbers that goes next? they have any reference for month / placement? cheers!

yes, there is some logic there as well. for example if the sixth character is 9 (so the one after SRC and the two characters for the year), then it means itโ€™s processed by the field offices. I donโ€™t know the meaning of the rest
Mrs BJan 9, 2022
@mihai but if mine isn't 9... I'm not being processed by the field office... I'm being processed by whom/what?? ๐Ÿ‘€
Mrs BJan 9, 2022
@mihai I did some research... il looks like the 3 numbers after the "year" means "the date of the fiscal year it was received"... which it doesn't make sense, cause there's no 900th day of the year... ๐Ÿ˜ฐ
Mrs BJan 9, 2022
@mihai but it looks like the numbers that matter are the last 5... I found: "the last five digits are used to identify uniquely the petition filed. Our observation has been that these are sequential numbers which are issued as cases are being processed at the intake facility. Cases filed together are often given sequential (or close to sequential) numbers for the last five digits (and overall)." from this page: https://cilawgroup.com/news/2015/06/04/uscis-receipt-numbers-explained-lin-src-eac-wac-ioe/ but now I got interested on understanding that "9" hehehe. thank you for your help!!!

this is very useful!
Mrs BJan 9, 2022
@mihai so I guess if we can figure it out the last 5 numbers from a case in our office that was approved, we could know "how far" our number is from being reviewed... I'll try to check some recent ones to see if makes sense!!

correct, although USCIS is not processing them in order. still it will be a good indication
Mrs BJan 9, 2022
@mihai I feel like there are many out of order, but there's a good "chunk" that kinda follow an order... unless it's REF/expedite, it seems there's "some" type of process that goes from one month to the other. what's your case like? ๐Ÿ’•
