My lawyer used to renew my prima facile for me anytime it expired. So I am sure you have to renew it.

I don’t think you have to renew it. it says on the document that they send one to you automatically when they have not approved or denied your case by the time it expires. I am just looking for a window of when people receive the renewal. does it come after it expires or right before it expires?

mine was exp March 8 2022 and I got mine like two days after it exp

Based on my own experience with VAWA, I think the USCIS automatically sends you a renewal shortly before it expires and usually it’s either you get a direct renewal or RFE. I never applied for any renewal directly, they always let you know when you are likely to hear from them or rather how your case will be handled.

@shauna thanks, mine expires may 24th so I am hoping I get it mailed to me immediately after as I am in school and need it for my FAFSA to continue coming through

@yoly it’s a document USCIS sends to let you know you qualify for the VAWA you are applying for. IT IS NOT AN APPROVAL OR SAYING IT WILL DEFINITELY BE APPROVED. it also gives you a chance to be eligible for public benefits if you need it

@lala interesting. hopefully I do not need RFE for a renewal. it has not expired yet. it still have a little over a month on it ao we’ll see what happens when it does expire. have you ever gotten a renewal before?

@Zara, yes I got 6 months from them and after then, they gave me RFE, responded to the RFE within 3 months they gave me, less than a month after I submitted the RFE, my I 360 was approved and I was mailed a new COMBO card within few days.

@lala interesting. what was your pd date? so you never got your combo card before the 1360 was approved? we’re you married to a usc? My Prima facie was given last year for 1 year not 6 months.

yes, to USC, and yes, for year and then for another 6 months! subsequently approval after response to RFE. However, if they have all the information they need without clarification from you, then you should expect your approval before the end of the prima facie you were given. For me, I thought they always stick and follow up based on the information they give as to how they make their decision.

@ Zara you are welcome! It’s been a long journey! Got approved October, 2019. Just did my interview in March this year and still waiting for green card approval. The worst is my status still reads on October, we approved your I 360. All is well!

@lala I can imagine. I just hit my first year. I am hoping mine does not take up to 3 years. hopefully I get the approval sometime next year by the grace of God. I am glad your journey is over or at least close to being over. your green card will also be approved very soon and you will be done

I didn't get my prima facie. I just got my combo card approved after 6.5 months of filing

my 2nd prima facie is expiring today, but I received my 3rd prima facie a week ago. but previously I got it a week after my 1st one had expired. so I would say + or - 1week

@noah yeah not everyone does. which is normal. but I believe everyone that does get one, gets renewal when it’s close to expired or expired

@Noah Henry yeah not everyone gets one, I know a lot of people without PD that got approval….And some with PD’s and not approval but all depends on God, the officer in charge and the substance of your case!!! All Is Well With Us All 👏🏾👏🏾

Hey Zara A this is a little off topic but please how did you apply for school and what did you give in for you to qualify for FAFSA and please what level of education are you. Because I have my PF but haven't used it for anything and yet I want to enroll for graduate school. kindly advise please. TIA

hey @miracle, I am in undergrad. I just applied regularly and in status info, I put that I was a VAWA recipient and they connected me with an advisor that had me send my Prima facie to them and they submitted it. they also had me apply for FAFSA on their website and then I was approved. it’s actually really easy. you just have to make sure you tell them your status ahead of time so they can get the right person to help you. I applied in February of 2020 and thus far have only received Prima facies ( which, after they have expired, I have had to write to USCIS and ask for renewal). In February 2023 will be 3 years since application. How is everyone else fairing?

applied January 2020 approved April 16,2022 October 16 finger print added to I-485 October 23rd I-693 ref November 12th response to I-693 November 19th case approved November 25th card delivered to my lawyer

my PF expired on March 25, still not receive a new one. it was last for 180 days. I hope that good news comes in my mail

Hi , my prima face expired 1 month ago and I haven't yet got a renewal, did anyones prima face renewal took so long? I know that it can came within 60 days of expiration, but since it can also means denial, im extremely worry because I mabout to travel with my AP for emergency trip .
