Appointment/Djibouti Experience today 6/18
Eid Mubarakum to all, Happy to inform you all my wife walked out with the white paper and without her passport. She was one of few who did. Most got put in administrative processing sadly. So before you get here you want to absolutely have all original documents that are required. Do not miss 1. Also, bring dozens of photos from the wedding day. There was a big emphasis on that. Bring other photos as well. There is a good place here that will print your photos out for you if you don’t have them with you. Or if you need more. The place is called VRinda Photo Studio and his number is +253 77 72 87 77. You can contact him on WhatsApp any time. While we were here we did extra photos just for the hell of it. There is also a Yemeni guy who is a very very big help. His name is Bashir and his office is nearby, he looks over everything you have and organizes it exactly how the Consular wants to see it. He was a big help with that and also explaining to my wife what to expect and assuring us we were all set to go and not missing anything. I would advise anyone to go to him, he was a little pricy it seemed, but he is good. His number is +253 77 22 75 75. You can also contact him on WhatsApp any time. We got here about 10 days before the appointment. That was more than enough time. Even with Eid. You really only need to come 5-7 days before appointment max. Print out the email with your appointment on it. Also be sure the DS-260 is printed out 3 x or so. DS-5535 also have that ready behind the DS-260. Clinique Le Heron is the place you need to do your medical exam. Schedule that 4 days before appointment or more. Our results came in 2 1/2 days. When you’re there they want a copy of your appointment letter and DS-260. If they give you the results sealed, leave them sealed. Ours weren’t sealed, so that wasn’t relevant. The day before your appointment you should meet with Bashir, and you will know basically or not if you’re on good shape. If he says good, you’re good. Now to our son. We kind of messed up on my sons appointment, but we’re doing it now, we may be here an extra 2 weeks or so bc of that. If you have children.. as soon as your spouse gets their appointment, schedule your children’s appointment. You have to to the MYTravelGov thing CRBA or whatever. After that is done, be sure to email them the receipt that you’ve paid the $100 fee so they can schedule the appointment. These were our only errors, and it may cost us a few more weeks here. Other than that, all went well. Inshallah to you all too. Places to go: Bawadi Mall is the spot here. Many restaurants stores coffee shop and a big place for kids to play. Inside they have a very nice Yemeni restaurant we ate there a lot. The breakfast and lunch was good there, Haneeth was ok. There’s a coffee shop next to this Yemeni restaurant inside of another mall. Idk the name of it. The restaurant is called Kingdom of Sheeba, look that up, go there and around the corner from that restaurant is a nice coffee shop with LEGIT Haneeth. The Yemeni restaurant itself isn’t that good, the coffee shop somehow is fire. No idea why. Anyways, any questions just lmk below. 👇🏽 #Djibouti #DjiYemen #Yemen

Sal Sanaa, YemenJun 18, 2024
DQ was 6/22/23 and yes, they slowed down badly. IL came 4/29/24 I believe and interview was today 6/18/24. So basically a full year. They slowed down badly. Nobody really gave any indication to why it slowed down so much. I can type a list to the best of my ability below of papers needed.

@Sal Sanaa, Yemen congrats 🎉🎈 what month are they currently working on?!
Sal Sanaa, YemenJun 18, 2024
Update* our son actually has an appointment June 20th, we didn’t even know. So I guess we did do it properly. Once you get your appointment for spouse. Immediately write to the embassy and explain your spouse has an appointment and you need one for your child(ren) and they will give you one nearby the spouses appointment.
Sal Sanaa, YemenJun 18, 2024
@J S , not really sure. I was DQ 6/22 and got my IL 4/29.. but they were moving very slowly once they got to June it seemed. So everyone June and after is waiting a bit of extra time.

first of all, Alf mabrook! so happy for you! second, you mentioned having ds5535 already filled out attached to ds260 before you went to interview? I heard people get Administrative Processing and get asked to fill out ds5535… are you recommending pre filling it out and handing it to them if they ask for it or even if they don’t ask for it ?

also, do you think having a kid helps a lot with avoiding administrative processing or it doesn’t matter… i have all original documents and a lot of photos but still sounds like even if you have everything right you can’t avoid the admin processing

@Sal Sanaa, Yemen yay congratulations.
Sara SalehJun 19, 2024
@Ali A if they ask for ds5535 they will ask you to fill out the document online it’s no longer a paper you submit in person, I doubt they would have accepted it if they requested it from him. and many people with kids got ds5535, I wasn’t missing any paperwork too, just luck I guess because they wouldn’t explain why me
Sal Sanaa, YemenJun 19, 2024
@ali a , exactly the DS-5535 should be printed out and the answers on the sheet. The guy Bashir who’s number I gave above will organize the file as the embassy wants to see it and make it easier for them, in the end making it easier for you and not asking much of your spouse. My wife said they looked at like 3 pictures out of the 100 we brought, they barely asked her any questions. She said it was very easy for her.
Sal Sanaa, YemenJun 19, 2024
@reef Yemen I’ll list them all in a post as we had them organized by us by the guy Bashir who’s number is listed above.
Sal Sanaa, YemenJun 19, 2024
@ali a I hear having a kid helps, everyone with experience dealing in this all say that. But, what matters is having every single required document. That’s really the first thing. If you have everything exactly how it should be, you’ll be fine. We did this entire process of fetching documents by getting more than we needed.
Sal Sanaa, YemenJun 19, 2024
@Sara Saleh thank you 😊 ok, I didn’t know that. I was advised to have that there. By my representative in US and by Bashir. The guy here is hands on and deals with thousands of cases probably per year. He knows the behavior of the consulate.

why do they give people administrative processing?
Fatima AJun 20, 2024
@Sam S they try to find the smallest reason to delay your case. that’s why it’s really important to make sure you have all your documents ready and organized. Also, to bring more evidence then is asked for durring your appointment.

@Ali A, from what I hear being born in America holds weight and having a kid helps. Who knows. We had the DS-5535 pre filled out and printed out not sure if that’s what you’re supposed to do, but we did it. I’ll tell you they barely asked my wife any questions it was easy for her, my son.. it was very easy. All of us were at the window. The lady just asked us to hold our right hand up to affirm the docs were true. The paperwork was even done incorrectly and they just fixed it on the spot and approved his passport. I seen a lot of people being asked to provide a DNA test. I would bring that to be safe to save you a few months. If they ask for it you’re stuck for a while. I’m glad they didn’t ask me.. but my son looks exactly like me it would’ve been a crime had they asked me for a DNA test. With my wife, we brought tons of photos. They want the wedding day photos mostly. But just have too many photos. We had WhatsApp convo they never asked for it.

Oh, update from the post on my son. We did the mytravelgov profile and did the crba application and the email came to another email and I didn’t know it until a day before his appointment which was 6/20 2 days after my wife. Almost got unlucky and missed it.. but his appointment was very easy. Both parents need to be there if possible. Or it seemed they’re asking for a DNA test. Especially if the one who is the American didn’t show up. Almost everyone was asked to provide a DNA test and we were the last to go so we seen everyone. Also photos from birth to present were asked for. Make sure you take photos with your children. They want to see that. The in and out of America thing was also a major factor. I would suggest to come with a DNA test. That is something people have a stigma about, but don’t leave it up to the consular. Just do it and that’ll save you a few months. They asked a lot of the people for DNA test.
