Yes you can put any US citizen as long as they qualify and are willing to sign it. You will need to file a form for you and the joint sponsor as well (later at the NVC stage).

Correct. If you can get the official IRS transcripts it would be perfect. I have seen the NVC occasionally request the transcripts instead of tax returns. Just to be safe and maybe save some time, I would recommend the transcripts. You and the joint sponsor must both submit the i-864 form.

after your i130 approval yes. the joint sponsor can be a US citizen or lawfully permanent resident. as long as they meet the income requirements and qualify to be a joint sponsor. if sponsor file taxes separate he/she fill out form i864 if joint sponsor is married and file taxes jointly then joint sponsor fill out i864 and spouse i864a. proof of Us citizenship or lpr. proof of domicile. tax transcript or return,w2/1099 . if receive retirement 1099r.

vavoune you are the main sponsor so no your spouse doesn’t need to file any form if you qualify base on your income. i needed a joint sponsor because my spouse income was not enough according to nvc so that was different
