no. they just process it and forward it, usually to an embassy. sometimes it goes to a USCIS service center abroad. I only got my notice a month after they had sent it to the embassy, but I did get information about it sooner though a congressional inquiry.

If your case is like mine, they are sending it about now and you will hear from them in about 6 weeks. Mine was sent to nvc August 28, sent to embassy September 28. I’m still waiting for an appointment for the interviews, but I’m hopeful they will come soon.

NVC eventually contacted the beneficiary, but it took them a while. they had already forwarded the case to the embassy about a month earlier. If you have a congressional representative willing to put in an inquiry it never hurts. NVC seems less disorganized than USCIS, but I noticed that they are also getting bogged down.

@d c I sent them an inquiry 3 days ago and I just received a response that they need to put my case into their system and will send welcome letter accordingly.
