Receipt number explained?

It's supposed to be for when you apply online but you can also get IOE receipt number when you file a paper application. It gets scanned into the online system and you're given the IOE number which enables you to get access to all documents sent to you in the USCIS online portal.

Example: SRC 17 018 XXXXX, means that the Texas Service Center opened this case on the 18th workday of the 2017 USCIS fiscal year.

I'm not sure of the breakdown of the numbers, based on the example you gave, that format doesn't match with my IOE receipt number.

Exactly. I want to know if anybody knows how to crack this code for IOE numbers if USCIS is using different pattern to read receipt numbers now or there is no pattern at all.

Some of my documents in online portal is not clear. I went ahead and uploaded myself which looks way better. Time to upgrade scanners @USCIS

The first 4 digits doesn't Match the date I mailed or date USCIS received my application so I'm not exactly sure. Does yours match your priority date or a day before?

I don't think it's wise to mess with that especially if you weren't asked to upload anything

@Sparks Not really. I honestly think there is no pattern anymore. It might be a serial number. If we can figure out how to read receipt number there is a way to check how fast the applications are moving at Case status check @USCIS website

What case do you have pending at USCIS? Mine is marriage based I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 currently at NBC filed from Massachusetts.

Some of my documents USCIS uploaded in my portal, like my ID is not readable. So i uploaded it just to make sure USCIS officer can read it. I don’t know if the officer handling our case will have the actual package we sent in hand.

I filed paper but received IOE, and got an online account.. but I only see the receipt notice in my account.. where did you see the attachment of the package you sent?

I'm not entirely sure but it's up to the agent scanning the documents to ensure it's readable. Besides all of the relevant information is captured on the application and whether or not a scan of an ID is readable isn't something that you should worry about.

If you actually download the document and use left and right arrows you will see all the documents rellavant to that case type. Its a .tif file.

yeah just checked it online.. I don’t see the forms itself neither the ID uploaded, however I only see some of the other supporting documents

The processing times are so inconsistent that I couldn't even guess. But I hope to get it before the end of the year

i have same situation, applied paper and received IOE and not everything was uploaded. the documents uploaded were not in any order and were kinda all over the place

@Nathaniel same with mine. They know what they're doing. It might look all over the place to us but not to them.
