There is no clear timeline on that but you can expect your I-485 to be approved about 6 months after I-360 approval. was your I-485 transfered to NBC?
andrade silvaJul 14, 2021
@Yann H yes, my I485 was transferred to NBC the same day who my I360 was approved
J
Jis DakoJul 14, 2021
Taylor taylor when was your I-360 approved? did you get RFE?
Y
Yann HJul 14, 2021
that's a good news. interviews have been waived recently so you might just get a RFE for medicals and it will get approved at NBC. if they send it for interview then you are looking at your local office timeline...my vawa was approved May 2021 and was told last week that that my I-485 was assigned to an officer pending review. This is confusing, I thought all 485 Vawa were sent to NBC.
Ejol beJul 14, 2021
my i-485 was transferred to NBC on April 2020 . I still waiting
Y
Yann HJul 14, 2021
@Ejol Vawa too?
Ejol beJul 14, 2021
@Yann H , yes
Y
Yann HJul 14, 2021
@Ejol That's unusual. what's your field office? Have you tried putting a request for outside normal processing time or expedite?
Ejol beJul 14, 2021
@yann H , FO Boston . Expedite don’t aply to my case . Request for outside normal processing time is also difficult because we don’t even know if the case still at NBC or was transferred to my field office in case of having an interview .My lawyer through G-28 made an Inquiry recently and we are waiting now .
Ejol beJul 14, 2021
I-485 pending for 17 months now

Taylor Taylor!how do you know your case transferred to NBC?mine was approved March 2021 and finger prints applied to my 485 on 6/25/2021. And on the app says we will prepare your case for officer review. How do I know if was transferred to NBC?

@tikisa tikisa I got a letter saying I was on NBC, when I do the consultation over the phone, they also say it's on NBC
Y
Yann HJul 14, 2021
@tikisa did they apply the previous fingerprint or did you go for another biometric appointment?
t
tikisa tikisaJul 14, 2021
Yann H!they applied previous
Y
Yann HJul 14, 2021
mine was never applied but my case is assigned to an officer.
Ejol beJul 14, 2021
you won’t get any information over the phone because your I-485 is based on Vawa . You need write them with a copy of G-28 signed by you and your lawyer that was sent to them along with the I-360.

Hi all 👋🏼 My I 360 was approved on Nov 2020 and there’s still no updates for I 485.. I applied them together in Jan 2019. My attorney says it may take another 2 months, but this is very frustrating
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
My VAWA case was approved at the end of 2019 , in April 2020 aplied for i485 and a month later they transferred the case to NBC in MO , on October 1st they used my previous fingerprints and no updates since then. Tried to speak to an agent today from USCIS to check if they sent the case to field office and they said they can’t access my case and told me to send a letter to Vermont Service Center . Spoke with my lawyer and she says we have to wait because it’s not out of processing times yet . how long does it take to get green card if you apply for i485 after vawa approval ? i tried checking the field office times but they are marriage based or employment and i don’t know under what category we are falling. So confusing and frustrating.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Anno Semmio - is this question is for me then i got approved at the end of the year in 2019 - December .
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Are we falling under a family based green card ?
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Thank you!
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
we are not under family based GC
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
What are we under then ? because when we check the status there’s only two categories.
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
its under Vawa
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
but there’s no such category when looking at the processing times . How else should we estimate the time of the processing if there’s no way to check online .
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
we fall under “other”
andrade silvaJul 16, 2021
Has anyone used advanced parole to travel?
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
nope..i don’t recommend either
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
33 months just to process the i485, that’s a lot of time taking in consideration that some waited for another 2 years to get Vawa approved . That’s the whole 5 years period if to go through the whole waiting time . Frustrating.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
So i guess if i waited for 1,5 years since applied for i485 then i have to wait the same amount still. Quite a journey. Doesn’t sound promising.
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
its all about how busy your local field office is..we are in the same boat..i filed my vi360 and i485 in june 2019,got approved in february 2021 for vawa...my i485 is moved to to local field office who has its jurisdiction (NBC) on march 2021 and am from chicago...no updates so far
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
based on other people story, it is taking on average 6 months to process the I485 for VAWA and in some cases 3 months (to get rfe for medical). Mine has been assigned to an officer pending review. My 360 was approved May 2021.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I was initially in Phoenix . AZ then in March this year i moved to IL , lawyer said there’s no guarantee they move the case to IL if i moved , they still can keep it in AZ , so i don’t know what should i be expecting since there’s no change to the case for 10 months now , since they used previous fingerprints. Who knows what to expect next and the most important question is when ))
D
Delilah The PhilanthropistJul 16, 2021
I used advanced parole for travel, and I know ppl who used it several times. One of them had her green card CANCELED for some reason and was given advanced parole, and she traveled with it several times without any problems
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
@yann i got my medical deficiency letter on april 2nd 2021,they asked me to bring if i get the interview or they will send me the RFE if they won’t conduct the interview..its been almost 4 months
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Yann H , i don’t think my case falls under 6 months , i applied 15 months ago and for 10 months since they used previous fingerprints there was no movement , my VAWA case took them exactly 24 months to approve . i have no idea if my case is at the NBC or at field office and which field office since i moved . And USCIS doesn’t provide any info , even if i’m going to mail them a letter there’s no guarantee i will get a response . Lawyer says just to wait . I think even they don’t know what to answer to these questions.
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
@Harry r I got my medical deficiency on April 1 2020 stating the samething . still waiting for 15 months now
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I have submitted my medicals when applied for i485 , they used previous fingerprints, don’t know what’s next .
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
@Adriana soon you’ll get your medical deficiency letter again i believe because the last one will be expired
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
@Adriana I meant 6 months from I360 approval. My case seems to follow the same trend so far since it is already on an officer's desk at Vermont. If there is no interview, they won't sent send it to the field office. Chances are we will just get a RFE for medical from NBC.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I looked at my medicals and they are valid until next year in July . This is pretty weird .
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
@Ejol that’s super crazy, but some are getting approved afters 6-8 months or some are getting approved even without interview
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
Adriana S I know exactly how you feel . Is just awfull ! I have my I -485 pending for 17 months now . I also don’t know where they transfered my case . I believe is at NBC
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
or they might just schedule and interview until next year when medicals expire . I am so over it already, Haven’t seen my family in 6 years and they can’t come here because pf the visa restrictions. So i do hope to get something until the end of the year .
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
they’re sending medical deficiency letters to everyone..i submitted my medicals along with i360 and i485 on june 2019 and i received my i693 deficiency letter on april 2021
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
@Ejol B - they probably transferred it to NBC for adjudication because Vermont Service Center doesn’t process i485 , they usually transfer them to NBC and then they go to field office if they don’t get approved by NBC .
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
they are transferring every vawa based i485 to NBC just to lower the workload and calling then our local field office..thats funny
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
I feel you. In all I have been going through all these immigration proceedings for over 8 years and haven't seen my family for 12 years. I am just glad my 360 is approved and now it just about waiting a few more months to finally get the GC. We will get there.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Then i don’t know why my copy of medicals says they don’t expire till July next year . i would be more than happy to do the medicals again just to have a movement . Waiting for a status change for 10 months is just killing me from inside . Just want them to change something there so i could at least see that they are working on my case . Not just sitting somewhere covered in dust )
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Yann H - I hope we all get an approval in the next few months .
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
They don’t have any sort of consideration for the awfull things vawa survivors went through . Many of us has developed PTSD , depression and anxiety and now to get any information is so difficult
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
We are even more screwed now because a few days ago the Biden administration decided to assign for staff to DACA (all for political reasons). they are not hiring new people so it means that they will prioritize DACA and other cases will slow down even more.
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
Good news is by the time we apply for Citizenship, processing times will be much better.
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
god bless us..we are in this together soon we’ll be out of it..patience will prevail
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Anno Semio . I understand you, it took them exactly 24 months - not longer not less to approve my case and then after approval i applied for i485 and waiting now 15 months . So it’s a long journey as i see ahead of us . Some get lucky and get the green card in a few months after filling others wait for 2-3 years .
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
@Adriana That's because they don't have good processes at USCIS. it doesn't make any sense why some people cases take a few months and others take years. For example once our I360 is approved, 485 shouldn't take that long. now it is just a matter of applying biometric and passing background check. Yet, it takes forever.
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
Yann H , exacly! Once cases start moving let’s post updates here to give hope to one another
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
so the processing timing will be same if you submit i485 along with i360 VS when you submit i485 month after when you got your i360 approved ???
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
I had my biometrics done September 2020 . Will be a year soon
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
But since they use previous biometrics it means all the background is passed so next should be either interview or approval but it’s none of that. Just waiting and have no idea for what and what to expect . But we are the ones that suffer on applying every year for a new EAD and spending money over and over . Having to renew your drivers licence and everything every year . so annoying honestly.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Now i even heard that they started to issue EAD’s for 2 years already, heard people that got for 2 years in the same time when i got for 1 year.
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
@Harry Not really because the priority date is the date they received your I485. So the sooner you send the I485, the better it is. With VAWA, we don't really know if our date is current though.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Yes , let’s keep each other posted here if there will be any movements since a lot of us at NBC waiting for the next move .
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
It depends in which state you are getting it , in AZ and IL they go by the EAD , in WA state they do it for 5 years .
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
I feel like they are putting us on the back of the line . There is no order
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I guess it depends, it’s good you don’t have to renew it every year but you still have to renew the EAD and pay the fees which is not cheap .
H
Harry rJul 16, 2021
NBC processing time is 29 months and its been 25 months since i submitted my i484 along with i360...so lets wait according to their processing time and hope for the best
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
where did you check the NBC processing times ? is it the same timeline even if you apply after i360 is approved? I am just confused , nbc has their times , field office different timeline and we have to guess what timeline they are going to use for us .
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
NBC doesn't have any processing timeline. they are just there to help coordinate cases to the right field office. For cases where interview can be waived like employment and VAWA, they just look at it and as long as there is no issue with the I485 they will approve it at NBC to speed up the process.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
So should i be worried since there has been no updates for 10 months from them after fingerprints? usually i heard that after biometrics or previous fingerprints prints the status changes pretty quickly to “ we are ready to schedule you for an interview “ and definitely it is not taking almost a year until that changes online .
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
Adriana S I don’t think you should worrie . I am also 10 months after biometrics . Might be due the pandemic we are getting this unexpected delays .
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
@Adriana because you applied for I485 in the middle of Covid, you should probably submit an inquiry with the help of your Congress Representative. That's what I did and last week they told me that it was assigned to an officer pending review. Before that I was just writing to Vermont and they never replied to me. You can also try to call customer service and request a tier 2 officer. He may not be able to answer but at least you can request an infopass from him.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I hope that’s the reason why we still didn’t get the interview or approval.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I don’t know who is my Congress Representative because i moved to IL a few moths ago and i have no idea if Uscis is keeping my case in AZ or moved it based by IL timeline . And i tried to contact uscis and spoke to someone and when i asked them to confirm if my address was changed and if there’s an update where’s my case now they said they can’t access that information and mail Vermont Service Center , which i think it will be a total waste of time , i heard they are not replying to people so i prefer just not to mail them and kill my hope for waiting for them to reply to me .
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Did anyone got their EAD the second time already since Vawa was approved? if we keep applying for EAD each year and it’s at the same NBC usually, doesn’t it trigger them to look at our green card application?
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
That's why VAWA sucks. they can't access our cases because of the privacy then we also write to vermont and Vermont doesn't answer because of the privacy. I also moved from Indiana to Kentucky and needed to update my address. I had to request an infopass because of the privacy on VAWA. it is almost like we are in a blackmore and no one cares...you can Google who your representative is and from their website make a request to assist you.
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
@Adriana S, I did a renewal last week . just waiting . I don’t know how long is taking . I also wrote an inquiry about where is my case and what’s going on along with the same package . will keep you posted
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
you can use this link to find who your congressman is. just have to put your zip code. https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
i did apply on January 10 for a renewal of EAD , 6 months before expiration, they used again the fingerprints they had on file and i got my EAD 2 weeks ago, exactly 1 week before my old one was about to expire . And it came for 1 year, others got it 3 day after me and it came for 2 years . i don’t know why so.
S
Simone SilvaJul 16, 2021
my I360 was aproved October 7 last year Vermont, I’m still waiting GC or interview
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Yann H - I don’t know what zipcode to use , from AZ or IL because i don’t know if they updated my address and which state should i go by . This is why i can’t do anything because they will not tell me if they changed the state or are still keeping the old state.
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
@Adriana S, I believe the 2 years EAD started just recently and aplies for when people are applying for the first time and not for renewals
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Hopefully that’s a good sign for us if we are getting it for 1 year when we are renewing, meaning probably that until it expires they will make a decision on our case .
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
@Ejol B , can you submit an inquiry on the case if it’s not ouf of the processing times ? Because my lawyer says to wait .
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
@Adriana you want to resolve it ASAP because if they send a notice, it might go to the old adress. if you just wrote to vermont to update the adress then they didn't update it. I got an infopass to my local field and the officer told me that for VAWA we can only update the address in person.
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
@Yann H, if you have a lawyer ask for a G-28 form assignment . Your lawyer can get information on your behalf writing them with a copy of the G-28
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
I don't have a lawyer but you are correct. it is easier to communicate with Vermont with a lawyer.
andrade silvaJul 16, 2021
@Simone silva are you Brazilian ? has your i485 transferred to NBC or is it still in vermont ?
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I still have access to the old address because my friend still lives there just in case , but nothing came through, also i got my EAD 2 weeks ago from my lawyer also all the receipts went directly to her , i am assuming she is the primary person that receives everything, that is possible for our vawa cases for safety as i heard on USCIS website . if we submit form G-28 when applying for green card then we give our lawyer the power to receive for us any documentation.
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
@Adriana S , I did because they never sent me a copy of the transfer notice . Since they don’t give information over the phone as a regular case you can write them with the help of your lawyer to ask about your case .
Y
Yann HJul 16, 2021
@Adriana if your lawyer gets your notice then you are good. At this point with all the wait even if they don't change your field office, at least you will get scheduled.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
Yes , i asked my lawyer multiple times how can we find out if they changed the address or to inquire about the case and she says case is not out of processing time and we have to wait . She says process goes as it has to go, but i believe if we send a letter or a lawyer calls them there is going to be a movement.
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
hopefully that will not slow the process more , i heard people that changed states and it speeded up the process and other said that they changed the state and he went in the back of the lane and had to wait much more because of that. So i don’t know how they work there .
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
Adriana S, processing times has nothing to do about your right to get information with your Lawyer using the G-28
A
Adriana SircuJul 16, 2021
I will try asking her again if she could obtain information where is my application. See if anything will change . Sometimes they need a push to start working again )
Ejol beJul 16, 2021
Adriana S, exacly! Please try!
