YOUR CASE IS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED TO PROCESS. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE ANY ACTION AT THIS TIME.
Hi guys,
I did request for expedite my son's case(I-130) and they rejected my expedite.
My son's case on the USCIS website of case status is:

However, recently this message shows on my account : YOUR CASE IS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED TO PROCESS. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE ANY ACTION AT THIS TIME.
What does mean? Is any one ever come across this on his or her account?
Is any one ever come across this on his or her account?
please let me know if any of you has the same experience, and is it ok that I send another expedite request? :(

Same here... I'm an US citizen & I submitted my 1-130 petition for immediate relation (spouse) on 31st March, 2022. Its been a total of 10 months now. Last week it showed 1 week left under processing times, and the next week it shows "Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time." Anyone here has an idea how long it may take for the I-130 approval after this message? And how long for the entire process to conclude after I-130 approval in total? I need numbers!
PS. My case service center is Nebraska Service Center.
Many Thanks.

Any update on this: 1 week processing time went to "Your case is taking longer than expected to process".. Does anyone have first hand experience on how soon this will end?
pratik parekhJan 4, 2023
I-130 processing time under USCIS is roughly 11 months, but some people on average takes 13 to 15 months.

We are all in the same boat. is absolutely inhumane. I'm struggling . so is my wife. I have the same status. Our i130 was accepted January 2022. on the 31st will be one year. Apparently I'm in California PC. 😏😔 i NEED my wife. this is hard. more than hard. but, it makes me feel a little better I'm not the only one waiting so long. I just created an account here. if I can find this thread again I'll keep you guys posted. stay bless. I suppose good things are worth waiting for. Good things don't come easy.
Natalie MartinezJan 10, 2023
On December 6, 2022 it said 1 week estimated until case decision. Then I checked again, December 14, 2022 and it stated "Your case it taking longer than expected.....". It is currently January 10, 2023 and I still have NO update! I submitted my I-130 for my spouse on March 23, 2022 , has anyone had any update?
Natalie MartinezJan 10, 2023
S Kareem, I see that we are currently experiencing the same situation and you filed around the same date I did. Do you have any update so far?
Rose AJan 11, 2023
Karem, mine is same been 10 months no update cr1 Nebraska, but I never get any estimated like 1 week or any timeline. always says my estimated time will be longer for process. don’t know how much longer , do they mean more than 10.5 months?
S KareemJan 14, 2023
@Natalie... Nope, not at all it's been around a month now with the same update, but for those who may not be knowing, the is a request update/ processing time portal you can approach if you feel it's taking longer than usual, I'll share the link here: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=onpt This may be useful. @Rose A, yes I think that is what it means..!
May God make ways easy for us all, and unite us with our spouses real soon!

Julianne StaggsJan 31, 2023
Joining this thread in a desperate attempt to try and calculate when i might have any hope of getting this green card. Mine was submitted mid April 22, spousal visa. Went to Nebraska. Went from 1 week last week to 'case is taking longer than expected'. From what I see from other posts here and on forums - they don't even seem to be up to Jan 22 yet.
How long has everyone waited since getting theirs? Has anyone's submission from 22 been approved yet?
Donald PerrellJan 31, 2023
My son-in-law's I-130 was accepted in Jan '22. Sent to Nebraska and then to Potomac. In December his status started counting down in weeks. 4, 3, 2, 1 week. We were getting excited. Beginning in January it now says "Taking longer than expected". ??? Of course no way to know how much longer it will be now and absolutely no way to get an update from USCIS. The system is definitely in need of serious reform and reorganization. My daughter/grandson and son-in-law have been living separate now since April '22. Unacceptable for sure. Good luck to everyone in the same boat!

I really don’t know what to do any more, I feel very jealous when I see other people can just go to United States with just a simple form and it takes them no times. For me after all the waiting this is my answer “YOUR CASE IS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED TO PROCESS. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE ANY ACTION AT THIS TIME." My wife and I is hurting so much by this waiting times, I need her. Thanks to WhatsApp video call that brings us closer. I think the USCIS system need help because they making people’s suffering.

@hannah A I’m in EXACTLY the same situation. I filed in April 2022, and I got my receipt showing Texas Service Center. I then tried to expedite and got a response from Vermont! I’m super confused who is processing my case now! i messaged USCIS asking them and I’m still awaiting a response… Did you find out anything?

Hello everyone, has anyone received an update? My case was submitted on March 25, 2022 and in two days, March 28, it will be a whole year since "As of March 28, 2022, we are actively reviewing your Form I-130". My processing time still states that my case is taking longer than expected and I am so frustrated that I can't 'expedite' until June.
Lyno CastilloMar 26, 2023
I have a family member who works at one of the centers. She says that due to budget problems. There is zero overtime until they get their new fiscal funds I believe in June or July until then everyones application will be processed really slow. I am also waiting for my I-130, I submitted on March 26, 2022 and it has not moved.

I have applied for the I-130 for my step son to come to the US in fall of 2022 and it said it would take about 9 months. We just received an update stating " Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time." So what does this mean, do I call, how do you expedite your case, etc. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

My husband and I applied in Oct 22 for i130, in March 23 it was saying 3 months, then April 23 when to 7 months, then May it said 5 months, and now it is the same message that has been discussed in this thread. "YOUR CASE IS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED TO PROCESS"
Does anyone know if this is just a default message that we're all getting now?
Is there anyone being approved quicker than any of these people in the chain above?
Does anyone know of a viable/legal route to work in the US before this spousal visa is approved?

I am also in the process of getting a green card, but we're doing it from inside the US (change of status). They keep increasing the time left and I got to this chat because I now also got the message that it takes longer. My issue is, that they did not even approve my work permit yet (I-765), so I can't work. I also can't leave the US since they still didn't approve my I-131 form, and there is no one to talk to about this situation. Anyone was at the same situation as me? Everyone I talk to got their work permit in 1 month. Were almost a year in. My life are on hold. I can't work, can't think of the near future or increasing our family, nothing.

I mailed my I30 on March 29, 2022, and it was opened and reviewed on June 25, 2022. I tracked it down until the last day after it gave me a countdown from 10 days down to the last one and then I was told it would take longer than usual. It usually gets updated on Fridays and Sundays. Two Sundays ago it was updated to three months and then 6 weeks the day after. Once again today it was back to ‘’YOUR CASE IS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED TO PROCESS. YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE ANY ACTION AT THIS TIME’’. I contacted their offices and a rude person who began speaking with a harsh tone but after I kept on being polite told me that if the case is not resolved by Oct 4 of this year I can submit a form which a supervisor receives and usually it gets rushed after that.

My Wife ( a US Citizen) submitted our I-130 on November 25 2022, they gave us 8 months as the estimated processing time, we waited untill February 2023 it was already on 5 months all of a sudden I went all the way back to 10 months that same February, we keep waiting until May 31st 2023 the time came down to 8 months and same day 31st May 2023 it went all the way down to 1 week estimated time, now this morning the message we got there was YOUR CASE IS TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED TO PROCESS, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE ANY ACTION AT THIS TIME, I am so frustrated my wife misses me so much I don’t know why the USCiS is treating us this way

I saw many people on reddit giving their reports and more common than it seems, apparently it's just a counter that when it reaches 0 they change to this phrase. On the bright side, I saw that the media for cases to be resolved is 13 to 15 months, I'm taking these things.
Kathy JJun 6, 2023
I submitted my I-130 petition for my spouse (husband) on September 26,2022. As of September 30,2022 Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS. Case. My case is in Texas center location. Estimated time until case decision has changed so many times It went from 8 months to 6 months to 5 months to 3 months and then back to 6 months. As of June 5, 2023 it is saying “Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time.” Not sure what that means. It is giving me so much anxiety now because I don’t know how much longer will take for the case to be approve. I had no idea the process was going to take this long. I miss my husband and it is so hard to be apart. All I want to do is be with my husband and start a family. I am trying my best to not give up or lose hope but it is difficult. I do hope the immigration system changes and is able to approve cases quickly and effectively.
Keirra AJun 6, 2023
I submitted my husband’s i-130 on September 24th, 2022. My case showed it started being actively reviewed April 17, 2023 now it is also showing “case taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time.” Thought I was alone now feels we are all in same boat. It’s difficult to understand this meaning, have not found answers yet
Lyno CastilloJun 6, 2023
After 16 months that its in review you can file a form to get supervisor to intervene otherwise we must wait :/.
Ayaka WongJun 6, 2023
We submitted on June 10, 2022 and same situation, it supposed to 3 months and was counting down then it bounced to 6 months and back to 2 months and later "Your case is taking longer than expected to process."... It's soon to be 1 year now and we are officially married for 1.5 years now still the spouse is not getting it approved.
Elizabeth WoodsJun 6, 2023
I posted on this chain on 31st May when I got the message, and I've just been approved today
Mparmar ParmarJun 7, 2023
Hi Elizabeth, can you please share your pd , what type of visa and other details like service center, and Date of approval ?
bruno deroniJun 7, 2023
I am very hopeful that my works will be released in October of this year, as the average resolution is between 13 and 15 months. not to mention that I went to the consulate to try to get a tourist visa that was denied just to see my wife and the man at the interview told me to rest assured that it wouldn't take 24 months. My timeline is for I-130
22 july 22 entry into documents
December saying it would take 8 months to complete
April 10 increased by another 4 months
June 1 "Your case is taking longer than expected to process."
I hope that in October everything will be fine

Hi Elizabeth I applied before you and you got approved before me , what did you do ?
Neisha PalmerJun 7, 2023
I applied for my husband for i130 July 25 2022. My processing time has changed so much from 6 months to 2 weeks. Now it's "Your case is taking longer...". I not sure where my paperwork is being process. my receipt said Nebraska but the USCIS keep telling Vermont.
My question is anyone getting approval who filed back April-June 2022.
Rosa MathewsJun 7, 2023
I am a US citizen and filed I-130 for my husband 7/13/22 and priority date is 7/12/22. Like everyone else I was down to 3 weeks and it jumped back to 5 months, recently 3 months and this week “taking longer to process”. We were married 10/6/21, I understood USCIS wanted to reunite spouses as soon as possible, but that seems to be empty words. Praying for all experiencing the same frustration.
Dunken ZhaoJun 8, 2023
I strongly recommended to our state senator to build or advise a law in federal government layer to cancel the USCIS department and outsource the USCIS works to the companies in the Republic of India or other countries in south east Asia.
Keenan WJun 8, 2023
Hello Everyone. I submitted an I-130 as a US Citizen on 11/30/2022. I was married on 11/8/2022. Originally, the processing time was counting down, from estimated 11 months to decision down to 10 and so on. Now all of a sudden at the beginning of June 2023 the message is the same as others. Your case is taking longer... From some of the comments it seems that a decision can be expected around a year from receipt date. Does anyone have any other information? Like other people here, its very difficult to be separated from family so long, and the waiting and lack of information is starting to take a toll.
bruno deroniJun 8, 2023
Well, what I managed to find out on reddit is that usually the resolution is between 13 and 15 months, as I said just above, as the process was taking too long, I tried to get a tourist visa to stay about 15 days with my wife in the USA, but was denied. I argued with the consulate that my process would take 24 months according to the website at the time and the guy comforted me by saying that it wouldn't take that long for me to be calm. I tried to get tourist visa on 2nd Dec 2022. I have been married since 12th Nov 2021.

Elizabeth WoodsJun 8, 2023
hey, my husband filed for my I130 on 8th Oct 2022, it went to Vermont Service Centre, like others in Jan we were told that we couldn't chase until July 2024, in March the processing time when from 5 months back to 7, then down to 6 in April then May it said 5 months, then we got the message "its taking longer than expected" in June and then 6th of June it was approved. Vermont appears to have less cases, and approvesquicker than the others. (we didn't do anything differently, we didn't use a lawyer, we did it ourselves)
